Key competencies for public library leaders in the 21st century

The challenge of library management in the 21st century is to provide leadership while trying to balance new and traditional services in a climate of fiscal restraint, increased accountability and increased competition. Skilled leaders are those who understand the competencies required to move institutions forward, cope with change, inspire their staff, provide excellent customer service and deal with politi-cal realities.

You will learn

The workshop will be presented as a postconference to the U. S. Public Library Association's National Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on March 16 and 17, 2002. Venue is the Phoenix Public Library.

The cost of the post-conference is $185 for international guests. The travel organization lies with the workshop participants. The workshop is co-sponsored by the International Network of Public Libraries under the auspices of the Bertelsmann Stiftung and by Bibliothek & Information International. German participants can apply for a subsidy for their participation. This workshop will be announced in several countries. The number of participants is limited.
