Over 1.500 IT books now available in Safari Tech Books Online

Safari Tech Books Online (http://proquest.safaribooksonline.com), the online IT reference database, announced the addition of the 1.500th book in July. Safari is a joint venture between the industry's two biggest publishers, The Pearson Technology Group and O'Reilly & Associates. ProQuest Information and Learning is the exclusive distributor of Safari Tech Books Online in the academic and public library markets.

Launched in 2001, Safari Tech Books Online is the only electronic reference library to deliver new content from O'Reilly and Pearson, as well as an additional 40 books from Microsoft Press. With Safari programming and IT students and professionals can search across all of the technical books in the library to pinpoint exactly the chapter and section of a book that contains the information, example or sample code they need in a matter of seconds. Users can also browse across more than 20 technical subject areas to get up to speed on new topical areas.

How to buy Safari - a unique subscription model allows institutions to choose which books make up their collection. Each book is allocated a number of slots, ranging from 0,5 to 3 and users subscribe to the requisite number of slots to cover the books they would like to access over the year. Subscribing libraries are also given the option of swapping old books for new books every 30 days.
