Elsevier Celebrates International Special Librarians Day

In recognition of International Special Librarians Day (ISLD), Elsevier (marike.westra@elsevier.com) is proud to honor the contributions of librarians around the world.  "As gatekeepers of information, librarians have an awesome responsibility that should be recognized today and always", said Arie Jongejan, CEO Science & Technology.  "As a corporate sponsor of the Special Libraries Association (SLA), Elsevier is pleased to demonstrate its commitment to librarians and all information professionals." According to the SLA, ISLD honors the unique contributions made by information professionals by promoting their critical roles in the global information community.   The theme for ISLD 2004, "Creating Information Currency", reflects the global contributions of the information community and the value attached to their critical skills to acquire knowledge for their organizations.  Created in 1991, ISLD is observed each year during National Library Week.
