RFID - Another Brick in the Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing Strategy

RFID are seen as a future technology. Experts predict an endless range of possible applications. Today, these radio chips are to be found in clothes, in animals, in tickets or in personal documents. This "smart technology" enters libraries as well. A cogent argument for a comprehensive overview, which goes beyond the library domain. Besides ubiquitous and pervasive computing, numerous applications will be presented, which might motivate for further services and to stimulate the reader to reflect the apparently unstoppable advance of "smart technology" into all domains of our existence.
