Demographische Veränderungen sind in Politik und öffentlichem Diskurs ein aktuelles Thema. Dass der Demographische Wandel auch für Bibliotheken ein Thema ist, legt dieser Beitrag dar. Er basiert auf einem Vortrag, der am 10. Mai 2006 in der ekz Reutlingen gehalten wurde. Angesprochen werden Notwendigkeiten und Möglichkeiten, die sich aus dem Wandel der Bevölkerungsstruktur für Bibliotheken ergeben. Als wichtiger Teil der Bildungslandschaft einer Region sind sie ein wesentlicher "weicher Standortfaktor" im Wettbewerb der Kommunen. Der vorliegende Text zeigt Wege auf, um diese Rolle anzunehmen, auszufüllen und an ihr zu wachsen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen hierbei Impulse für Kooperationen; angefangen mit Kooperationen unter den Bibliotheken selbst, über den Schulterschluss mit anderen Kultur- und Bildungsinstitutionen bis hin zur Nutzung von Synergieeffekten mit Freizeitstätten. Alle Maßnahmen zielen auf einen bewussten Umgang mit den Folgen des Demographischen Wandels. Denn im Rahmen der Konkurrenz der Kommunen und der Abnahme der Zahl jugendlicher bzw. der Zunahme älterer Leser wird dieser auch zu einem Thema für Bibliotheken. B.I.T.online 9(2006) Nr. 3

In politics und public discussion demographic changes are a current topic. This abstract shows that demographic changes are also a topic for libraries. It is based on a lecture given on May 10, 2006, in the ekz Reutlingen. It depicts the necessities in the daily work of libraries, which result from the changes in the population structure. Libraries are one important component of education and because of this also an essential "soft location factor" in the competition between different local areas/parishes. This text illustrates ways to accept this new role and to mature with it. In this abstract, stimuluses for cooperation are the center of attraction. This includes cooperation between libraries, collaborations with cultural institutions as well as the uitilization of synergetic effects resulting from the partnership with other institutions in the field of leisure-time activities. All measures aim at a conscious dealing with the effects of the demographic change. This is becoming a topic for libraries as well due to the competition between local areas and the decrease of the number of young readers respectively the increase of older clients. Les transformations démographiques font partie de l’actualité du débat public et politique. Cette article va montrer que ces modifications doivent aussi être au cœur du débat pour les bibliothèques. Il se base sur un discours tenu à Reutlingen le 10 mai 2006. Il sera question des possibilités offertes aux bibliothèques tout autant que des nécessités qui découlent de cette transformation démographique. Occupant une place importante dans le paysage culturel d’une région, les bibliothèques sont un facteur de développement essentiel dans la concurrence entre communes. Cette article présente des voies à suivre afin de prendre en charge ce rôle, le remplir et se développer grâce à lui. Ainsi en premier lieu se trouvent des incitations à coopérer ; en commençant par la coopération entre les bibliothèques elles-mêmes, puis, élargissant l’horizon, avec d’autres institutions culturelles et de formation jusqu’à utiliser l’effet de synergie avec les centres de loisir. Toutes ces mesures ont pour but de permettre d’agir en ayant conscience des conséquences du changement démographique qui en effet , dans le cadre d’une concurrence entre communes, de la diminution des lecteurs jeunes, de l’augmentation des lecteurs âgés devient un sujet de discussion aussi pour les bibliothèques.
