Der Mittelbau des Mannheimer Barockschlosses bekam zum 400-jährigen Stadtjubiläum im Jahre 2007 seine historische Außenansicht zurück. Im Inneren wurde auf den oberen Etagen (2. bis 5. OG) die Bibliothek, in den unteren Etagen das Schlossmuseum mit den historischen Räumen eingerichtet. Im Sommer 2006 nahm die Universitätsbibliothek Mannheim den Bibliotheksbereich "Schloss Ehrenhof" mit täglichen Öffnungszeiten bis 24 Uhr in Betrieb. Dieser Bibliotheksbereich erhielt bei der Einweihung den Namen "Hasso-Plattner-Bibliothek", benannt nach dem SAP-Mitbegründer und Mäzen, der hierfür 10 Mio. € spendete.
   Für die Architekten war das Bauen im Bestand des barocken Schlosses eine Herausforderung. Die historische Bausubstanz wurde erhalten, die Mansarddächer wurden rekonstruiert und es entstand eine moderne Bibliothek. Das Bauprojekt erhielt einen Architekturpreis der Architektenkammer Baden-Württemberg. Die Universitätsbibliothek gewann 2007 das nationale Bibliotheksranking "Bibliotheksindex, BIX" in ihrer Kategorie. B.I.T.online 11(2008) Nr. 2

To celebrate the fourth centenary of the city in 2007, the main building of the baroque Mannheim palace was rebuilt to again feature its historic ambience. The upper floors (from second to fifth floor) are now occupied by the library, the museum with its historical rooms is housed beneath. Mannheim University Library opened its palatial doors in summer 2006, the library part called "Schloss Ehrenhof" (palace - court of honours), is opened daily till midnight. Upon its official opening it was named "Hasso-Plattner-Bibliothek" after and in honour of the patron and cofounder of the SAP company, who gave 10 million Euros for the realization of the project.
   Construction works inside the structure of the baroque palace proofed a challenge for the architects. The historical substance of the building was preserved, its mansard-roof rebuilt, and a modern library was created. The construction project accordingly received the architecture price of the Chamber of Architects of Baden-Wurttemberg County. In 2007 the University Library then won the national library ranking "Bibliotheksindex, BIX" in its category. B.I.T.online 11(2008) Nr. 2

Lors du quatrième centenaire de la ville en 2007, on a rendu l'aspect historique au corps de logis du château baroque de Mannheim. Les étages supérieurs (du deuxième au cinquième étage) sont occupés par la bibliothèque; le musée du château et les salles historiques se trouvent aux niveaux inférieurs. Le site "Schloss Ehrenhof" (château - cour d'honneur) de la Bibliothèque Universitaire de Mannheim a été inauguré en été 2006; il est ouvert tous les jours jusqu'à minuit. On lui a donné le nom "Hasso-Plattner-Bibliothek" en l'honneur du mécène et co-fondateur de l'entreprise SAP, qui a donné 10 millions d'euros pour la réalisation du projet.
   La construction dans la structure du château baroque a été un défi pour les architectes. On a conservé la substance historique du bâtiment, reconstruit son toit mansardé, et une bibliothèque moderne a été créée. Un prix d'architecture de la chambre des architectes du land Baden-Wurttemberg a été décerné au projet de construction.
