Nielsen Book: Alliance with Muze Europe
Nielsen Book and Muze Europe have signed a deal that sees Nielsen Book become the exclusive reseller of Muze Europe CD Music and Video records through its extensive customer base of libraries and associated organisations in the UK. In addition Nielsen Book also has a nonexclusive agreement to resell Muze Europe data within the retail book trade. Sales to the Library market will include all libraries, library suppliers and library management system suppliers and will, initially see the availability of Muze music and video data in UKMARC and MARC21 as a BookData Record Supply Service. Development of this service has now been completed and the service is due to launch 10 March.
As part of the ongoing relationship, further development work will be undertaken during 2008 which will include the full integration of Muze Europe data into the Nielsen Book database and the availability of a fully integrated search tool for all book and AV materials via BookData Online, the company's flagship service for booksellers and libraries around the world. Further developments are planned to include OPAC/Catalogue enrichment services featuring track listings, jacket images, descriptive content and sound clips.
