RFID in öffentlichen Bibliotheken – auch eine Frage der Ethik
Konstatiert man eine moralische Motivation hinter der Gründung von öffentlichen Bibliotheken und stimmt man der These zu, dass diese eine besondere moralische Verpflichtung allen Bürgern gegenüber haben, so ist die Einführung von RFID in öffentlichen Bibliotheken problematisch. Denn bei der vollautomatischen Entleihung und Rückgabe von Medien mit RFID besteht 1.das große Risiko, dass einige Benutzergruppen potentiell nicht mit der Technik umgehen können oder wollen und 2. die Privatheit der Bibliothekskunden nicht geschützt werden kann.

RFID in public libraries If one states a moral motivation behind the establishment of public libraries and if one agrees the thesis that these have a special moral obligation to all citizens of a society, then one comes to the conclusion, that the adoption of RFID in public libraries might present a problem. Because automatically borrowing and returning books with the help of RFID carries with it the danger of: 1. library users who do not want or are not able to act with the machines and 2. librarians who are not able to guaranty for the privacy of library users.

RFID dans les bibliothèques publiques – également une question d'éthique
Si l'on constate une motivation morale derrière la création de bibliothèques publiques et si l'on approuve la thèse selon laquelle celles-ci ont un engagement moral particulier vis-à-vis de tous les citoyens, l'introduction du RFID dans les bibliothèques publiques pose problème. Car l'emprunt et la restitution entièrement automatisés de médias à l'aide du RFID implique 1. le risque important que quelques groupes d'utilisateurs ne puissent ou ne veuillent éventuellement pas faire usage de la technique et 2. l'impossibilité éventuelle de préserver la sphère privée des clients des bibliothèques.
