Bibliotheken planen und bauen: Der neue DIN-Fachbericht 13 erscheint
Längst ist der DIN-Fachbericht 13 ein zentrales Arbeitsinstrument für Bibliothekare, Planer und Unterhaltsträger geworden, die sich mit Bibliotheksbau befassen. In seiner 3. Auflage bezieht er erstmals außer den wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken auch öffentliche Bibliotheken und Archive ein. Alle Kapitel wurden grundlegend überarbeitet. „Klassische“ Themen wie die Grundflächen für Bestände sowie für Nutzung und Information wurden stark erweitert: die Berechnung der Grundflächen für Personal folgt nicht mehr der Laufbahnorientierung. Neue Kapitel z. B. zum Leit- und Orientierungssystem, zur Barrierefreiheit in Archiven und Bibliotheken sowie zur Nachhaltigkeit im Bau kamen hinzu.
   Insgesamt berücksichtigt der Bericht eine breitere Skala von Nutzerbedürfnissen. Neben den enormen technischen und organisatorischen Veränderungen im letzten Jahrzehnt gehen gesellschaftliche Aspekte als raumbestimmender Faktor in die Berechnungen ein – die Bibliothek als Aufenthaltsort, Lernort und Kommunikationszentrum.

Planning and building libraries: Latest issue of DIN Technical Report no.13 published
Over the past years, DIN technical report 13 has evolved into a central working for librarians, planners and supporting organizations concerned with edificial library issues. The 3rd edition is the first that not only covers academic libraries, but also includes public libraries and archives. All chapters have been fundamentally revised. “Classic” topics such as the floor space for stocks as well as for use and information have been greatly expanded: the calculation of floor space for staff no longer follows the career orientation. New chapters e.g. on the guidance and orientation system, accessibility to archives and libraries, and on sustainability in construction have been added.
   Overall, the report takes into account a wider range of user needs.In addition to the significant technical and organizational changes over the past decade social aspects are factored in as room defining features – the library as place of sojourn, learning and communication.

La conception et la construction de bibliothèques: La nouvelle édition du rapport technique DIN 13 a été publiée
La norme DIN-13 (équivalent de la norme ISO pour l'Allemagne) est devenue depuis longtemps un instrument de travail essentiel pour les bibliothèques ainsi que pour les animateurs et les services responsables de ces bibliothèques. Dans sa troisième édition, cette norme se réfère pour la première fois non seulement aux bibliothèques de recherche mais aussi aux bibliothèques publiques et aux archives. Tous les chapitres ont été profondément remaniés. Des sujets « classiques » tels que le nombre de mètres carrés nécessaires pour les stocks et leur utilisation (y compris l’information des visiteurs, etc.) ont été fortement élargis. De même, l’attribution des superficies allouées au personnel ne suit plus l’ordre hiérarchique. Des nouveaux chapitres ont été ajoutés définissant, entre autre, les nouvelles règles sur le système d’orientation, sur l’élimination des barrières pour l’accès aux archives et bibliothèques des personnes à motricité réduite, ainsi que sur la protection de l'environnement dans la construction. Au final, cette nouvelle norme prend en considération la plus large palette possible parmi les besoins des utilisateurs.
   En conclusion, après les grands changements techniques et d'organisation de la dernière décennie, des facteurs sociaux entrent à présent dans la composition des espaces de la bibliothèque. Désormais, la bibliothèque est un lieu de séjour, un centre d’apprentissage et de communication.
