Verbundsysteme in Großbritannien
Der Artikel erläutert die überregionale und nationale Zusammenarbeit zwischen den wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken Großbritanniens. Ausgangspunkt des Artikels ist die Frage, ob das in Deutschland dominierende System der Verbünde auch in Großbritannien vorhanden ist. Die Antwort ist ein klares „nein“, anstatt dessen übernehmen nationale Strukturen (SCONUL, RLUK, JISC, RIN) die Koordination in den Bereichen Benutzerzulassung, Aus- und Fernleihe, Nachweis, Lizenzierung elektronischer Medien und Interessensvertretung. Die zwei wichtigsten Nachweissysteme auf nationaler Ebene Copac (Bücher) und SUNCAT (Zeitschriften) werden ausführlich vorgestellt. Hierbei ist wichtig, dass Copac nicht die Bestände aller Bibliotheken nachweist. Es folgt eine Beschreibung der Verteilung der Bibliothekssysteme (Software) in Großbritannien. Zwei wichtige regionale Kooperationen (M25 Consortium und CAIRNS) werden vorgestellt, wobei die Unterschiede zu den deutschen Bibliotheksverbünden klar hervorgehoben werden. In der Schlussfolgerung wird eine mögliche Erklärung angeboten, wieso die Situation in Großbritannien so unterschiedlich ist zur deutschen Ausgangslage.

This article describes the large-scale and national co-operation between academic libraries in the United Kingdom. The starting point for this article is the question whether the „Bibliotheksverbund”, which is prevalent in Germany, also exists in the UK. The answer is a clear „no”; instead the article describes the national structures and bodies in the UK (SCONUL, RLUK, JISC, RIN) and their responsibilities in the areas of user access, lending, catalogues, licensing of electronic resources and policy development. The two main catalogues on a national level, Copac (books) and SUNCAT (serials), are described in some detail. However, it is important to note that Copac does not contain the collections of all the libraries. This section concludes with an overview over the distribution of library systems (software) in the UK. Two major regional library networks are presented (M25 Consortium and CAIRNS), although the differences to the German „Bibliotheksverbund” are pointed out. In the conclusion the author offers a possible explanation why the situation in the UK is so different from the German position.
Nouvelles de Grande-Bretagne: Systèmes de groupements en Grande-Bretagne
L’article explique la coopération suprarégionale et nationale entre les bibliothèques scientifiques de Grande-Bretagne. Il part de la question de savoir si le système des groupements, dominant en Allemagne, existe aussi en Grande-Bretagne. La réponse est un « non » sans ambiguïté. Par contre, des structures nationales (SCONUL, RLUK, JISC, RIN) se chargent de la coordination dans les secteurs de l’autorisation des utilisateurs, du prêt et du prêt à distance, du référencement, de l’obtention des licences pour les médias électroniques et de la défense des intérêts. L’article présente en détail les deux principaux systèmes de référencement au niveau national, Copac (livres) et SUNCAT (magazines), Copac ne référençant pas les fonds de toutes les bibliothèques. Vient ensuite une description de la répartition des systèmes bibliothécaires (logiciels) en Grande-Bretagne. Deux coopérations régionales importantes font l’objet d’une présentation (M25 Consortium et CAIRNS), avec mise en évidence des différences par rapport au système des groupements allemands. En conclusion, l’auteur offre une explication possible à la situation britannique, si différente de son modèle allemand.
