University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Selects Ex Libris Primo

Primo will be integrated with the University Library’s Gateway Web site

Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign library has selected the Primo® discovery and delivery solution from Ex Libris. With this acquisition, the University Library joins a Primo community of 300 local and regional libraries in North America.  

Combined with the Primo Central Index, which connects libraries to hundreds of millions of scholarly e-resources, Primo enables users to search the entire spectrum of a library’s collections—both e-resources and physical holdings—through a single point of access, and to receive a single, relevance-ranked list of results.  

“Students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois use the Library's Gateway Web site and search systems to assist them in discovering and downloading several million journal articles and e-books annually,” said Beth Sandore, associate university librarian for information technology planning and policy and associate dean of libraries. “Primo will be integrated into that heavily used resource.”
