Minesoft Announces Launch Of Brand New Service
For Automatically Monitoring Patent Citations

Minesoft has launched a brand new service
for automatically monitoring newly published patent citations

Patent citations can provide a valuable insight into competitor activity and opportunities and threats around technology areas of interest. Tracking patent citations forms an important part of an organisation’s competitive intelligence strategy.  Recognising this, Minesoft has developed a service that allows users to be automatically alerted to new citations of interest each week as they are added to patent documents.

As Ann Chapman, Director at Minesoft, explains, “Organisations can use the new service in-house to monitor which competitors are citing their own patent portfolio, or to discover what technologies are most frequently being cited. IP law or patent attorney firms can expand their IP services offering by providing clients with a watch service based on CiteTracker results. With no comparable services currently available on the market, CiteTracker offers organisations a unique, time-saving business intelligence resource.”

Normally, monitoring patent citations is a time-consuming manual task that needs to be performed by a patent information professional since a weekly search needs to be run in a patent database such as Minesoft’s PatBase to find new citations for a particular applicant or corresponding to a specific patent classification. CiteTracker eliminates the need for manual searches, with results delivered by email whenever new citations are published for any of the patents in the original set.

Minesoft handles everything from setting up the alert to delivering the results, ensuring a streamlined service that does not require the user to be a patent information expert. The concise report of newly published citations is easy to read, and results can be easily shared with colleagues or clients. The new service is an ideal resource for patent attorneys, lawyers, IP Counsel, R & D, search firms, and licensing and technology transfer offices.
