The University of Sussex Selects the Ex Libris Alma Library Management Service
The flexible, cloud-based Alma solution will be instrumental in helping Sussex achieve its strategic aims now and in the future
Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that the University of Sussex is replacing its library management system with the Alma® unified resource management service from Ex Libris. Tightly integrated with the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, which the University implemented in 2013, Alma will provide the Library with a future-oriented solution for the acquisition and fulfilment of electronic, digital, and print resources. Flexible and open, the Alma service will interact efficiently with other internal and third-party systems.
“Our ability to facilitate the acquisition of resources and exposure of our collections and services was beginning to be seriously compromised,” commented Kitty Inglis, Librarian at the University of Sussex. “Students now have very high expectations for a unified solution that will enable them to easily discover the library resources they need. We are delighted with Primo as our resource discovery system, and Alma is the perfect fit for the effective delivery of content and services.
“Alma has a strong user community in the UK and internationally, and offers a comprehensive knowledge base of material,” continued Ms Inglis. “We see Alma as an investment in the future that will help us fulfil numerous goals; the strong, flexible analytics capabilities will provide us with tools to verify that we are meeting the needs of our users, and the efficient SaaS workflow will save time for our staff, who will be able to focus more on user-related tasks.”
Koby Rosenthal, corporate VP and general manager of Ex Libris Europe, remarked: “We welcome the University of Sussex to the Alma community, whose continuous growth clearly demonstrates that Ex Libris understands and responds to the needs—both present and future—of the academic library market.”
