ProQuest, Biblionix Join Forces to Improve Public Library Patron Experience

Catalog enrichment from Syndetics Unbound™ service now available to Apollo™ ILS customers

Public libraries who use Apollo, an integrated library system (ILS) from Biblionix that automates circulation management and collection management, now have a new way to improve the discovery experience for their patrons. The Syndetics Unbound catalog enrichment service, designed to transform a library’s catalog or discovery layer, will now be available to public libraries in combination with Apollo.

“When patrons enter a library catalog enhanced by Syndetics Unbound, they’ll see rich, dynamic information that helps them not only choose the right book, but also find related titles and materials in the library through recommendations, reviews, author bios and more,” said Doug McMillan, Vice President, Strategic Partnerships at ProQuest. “Biblionix is an industry leader when it comes to improving the patron experience, and we’re excited to partner with them on a complete solution to help public libraries drive exploration, discovery and usage of their resources.”

The first library to integrate Syndetics Unbound into their Apollo ILS is the Pflugerville Public Library in Pflugerville, Texas.

“We are thrilled to bring the power of Syndetics Unbound to our customers,” said Clark Charbonnet, CEO and Founder of Biblionix. “The multi-tenant architecture of the Apollo ILS plus the ingenuity of the Syndetics Unbound team have resulted in a unique deployment. Optimum visibility in the Apollo catalog, plus significant streamlining of account management, means more and more libraries and patrons will be able to enjoy the benefits of Syndetics Unbound. We look forward to an outstanding partnership to the delight of our customers.”

All Syndetics Unbound data is derived from Bowker, the world’s leading authority for bibliographic and publisher information, and LibraryThing, which provides high-quality, professionally vetted social and recommendations data. In total, 16 interactive elements are available from Syndetics Unbound, any of which can easily be turned on or off by library administrators.

Public libraries interested in more information should contact Biblionix CEO and Founder Clark Charbonnet.
