Primo Central Index to Cover Wanfang Data Content in Chinese

Multiple databases of this major Chinese publisher will be available to mutual customers of Primo Central and Wanfang Data

Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that the metadata of e-journals, dissertations, conference papers, and gazetteers hosted by Wanfang Data will be indexed in the Ex Libris Primo Central Index of scholarly electronic resources. As a result, this extensive content from Wanfang Data will be easily discoverable via the Ex Libris Primo® discovery service.

The collections to be covered by Primo Central are among the most important resources provided by Wanfang Data. China Local Gazetteers contains about 27,000 gazetteers that were published after 1949 and offers geographical and historical information from regions throughout China; China Online Journals includes more than 7,800 online Chinese journals in numerous disciplines; Dissertations of China is a comprehensive collection of dissertations and master’s theses from 1980 onward; and the Academic Conferences in China database offers abstracts and full-text papers presented at conferences in China since the mid-1980s.

“We are pleased to partner with Ex Libris to better meet scholars’ rapidly growing need for information on China and high-quality e-resources from China,” commented Mr. Qiao, vice president of Wanfang Data.

Michal (Michelle) Gindi, director of publisher relations at Ex Libris, remarked: “I am delighted that this major Chinese information provider has decided to contribute its content to the Primo Central Index. Researchers in China and Chinese-speaking scholars around the world will benefit tremendously from being able to access this vast wealth of electronic resources via their discovery system, and Wanfang Data collections will receive much greater visibility. The addition of Wanfang Data’s content helps further the Ex Libris commitment to offering global content in the Primo Central Index.”
