Technische Universität Berlin Becomes First University in Germany to Opt for Ex Libris Leganto Course Reading List Tool

The library sought a system for collecting and compiling learning resources and making them readily available — a major challenge for teachers and library staff.

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Technische Universität (TU) Berlin has selected the Leganto® course reading list solution to facilitate new methods of teaching and to increase support for distance learning. For a number of years, the university’s library has been using the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Tightly integrated with the library services platform, the Leganto solution will help promote close collaboration between the library staff and teachers.

While TU Berlin aims to make digital resources easier for students, faculty, and staff to obtain remotely, the variety of tools, systems, institutional requirements, and restrictions has impeded user access. With the Leganto solution, the TU Berlin library will improve the prominence and use of resources to facilitate teaching and learning, and handle compliance with copyright regulations when lecturers are compiling reading lists.

Jürgen Christof, Executive Director of the University Library, said, “The Leganto tool will take us to the next level when it comes to online access to resources for students, teachers, the library, and the university as a whole. We look forward to implementing this new solution and integrating it seamlessly with our other digital solutions to facilitate teaching and enrich learning.”

Ofer Mosseri, General Manager EMEA, at ProQuest, commented, “Ex Libris is delighted that Technische Universität Berlin has selected the Leganto course reading list solution, which will support the university in fostering meaningful learning and promoting student success in online, on-campus, and hybrid learning environments.”
