New Karger CEO Daniel Ebneter

Daniel Ebneter joined Karger Publishers as the new CEO on July 1, 2017. He follows Gabriella Karger, who will be focusing on her role as the fourth generation Publisher and Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors.

The new CEO Daniel Ebneter brings an ideal combination of knowledge and experience to Karger Publishers. He will significantly help to shape the strategic and operational development of the company. Born in 1970 and a Swiss citizen, Daniel Ebneter has a strong background in publishing, digital business, and change management. He previously served as an Executive Board Member of a German publishing group specializing in the field of psychology.

Gabriella Karger will focus on her main tasks as Publisher, developing the publication program as well as further developing Karger’s relationships with the scientific community. She will continue to serve as the Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors chaired by her father Thomas Karger.

"Now is the right time to bring in a CEO from outside of the family to strengthen the company's Management Board" says Gabriella Karger. "The Karger family remains committed to developing the potential of the company in a consistent manner. We are convinced that our strengthened Management Board enables us to continuously provide innovative solutions for the scientific community, living up to our goal of connecting the world of biomedical science."

His first two months at Karger have allowed Daniel Ebneter to gain many valuable insights into the company’s markets, organization, and challenges. He says: “A relentless focus on quality, excellent personal relationships with the scientific community and constant innovation are the values Karger has lived by since 1890. They form an excellent basis to take scientific publishing onto the next level in a rapidly changing environment. I’m very excited to be part of this journey.”

Daniel Ebneter will strengthen Karger’s Management Board of three, working closely with Gabriella Karger and COO Ural Tufan. Each member of the Management Board assumes responsibility for specific departments and topics, while important decisions will be taken together whenever possible.
