BOBCATSS 2009

Registrations for BOBCATSS 2009 are now open! The conference will take place in Porto in 28th, 29th and 30th of January at Faculty of Engineering (28th and 30th) and Faculty of Humanities (29th) of the University of Porto and it will have english as the official language.  

"Challenges for the New information Professional" is the main topic of discussion for BOBCATSSS 2009, divided in various sub-themes:

• Interdisciplinarity of Information Science;
• Information Professional and Information Management;
• The current impact of the new technologies in the life of the Information Professional; The rise and fall of physical libraries and archives;
• Information Literacy;
• eLibraries & eArchives
• Librarian 2.0.

This is already the 17th edition of this international meeting that occurs under the auspices of EUCLID (European Association for Library and Information Education and Research), usually joining together hundreds of students, teachers and professionals from the field of Information Science and coming from all over the world.

The acronym BOBCATSSS is formed by the first letters of the city's names of the universities that started the symposium, since 1993: Budapest, Oslo, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Tampere, Stuttgart, Szombathely and Sheffield.
